Route description

A more novel alternative of the old hiking route that connected the “Baraj Leşu” motel and the resort of Stâna de Vale, with the same marking, blue stripe. The new trail of this mountain itinerary starts from the center of the Coada Lacului vacation village. It is 19 kilometers long, relatively easy to walk in about 6 hours. In winter, tourists are advised to keep in mind that the snow can be heavy, the markings are hard to find and most likely the path is unbeaten.

We start from the center of the Coada Lacului vacation village. With the curch of  Constantine and Helen on the right, we climb a well-identified road, following the course of the Guga Valley. After 3 kilometers, our road turns into a path but continues to climb to a meadow with the appearance of an alpine area. We come out right at the junction of four paths, somewhere on the right is Stâna de Runc.

We go ahead following the blue stripe marking and meet the Sebeşel Valley. We cross a small wooded area and go out again in an open place in Drăgotanului Glade. In front, to the right we have the Drăgăţanului (Drăgotanului) Peak 1,444 meters high. We climb a little more in this alpine hollow area and meet the point of Gruiul Ursului. After a well-deserved stop, we go to Piatra Calului, 1,463 meters. We continue ahead, ignoring other paths that intersect with our route and descending a little in Raia ridge, we pass through the immediate vicinity of Muncel Peak, 1,411 meters.

A little further on, our route meets another one, the red triangle, which comes from the left. We go to the right, continuing our way next to this marking. Going down the summit of Muncel, we will see on the left a sheperds place and on the right, the peak of Aria Vulturilor, 1,345 meters high. Just a little further and we reached the Wonder Spring. Here we are, practically, in Stâna de Vale. In order to get right to the center of the resort, all we have to do is continue, following the main road.
