Wild and full of charm, the gorge of Mișid seem to be a land forgotten by time. The waters of the river of the same name flow through boulders and steep rock walls. Simply crossing these gorges can already be a challenge, especially when it rains and the waters don’t seem to fit between the valley walls. On the contrary, in times of drought, the water of Mișid seems to want to hide under rocks.
The steep walls and slopes covered with debris only increase the feeling of isolation. In summer, the meadows here abound with butterflies and flowers.
Following the course of the valley, tourists will reach the caves of Moanei and Lesiana. Of these, the Moanei cave is a permanent challenge for those who seek to discover a glimpse of the beauty of the underworld.
On a small part of it, the hiking route Vadu Crișului Cave – Moanei Cave, marked with a blue triangle, passes through the Mișidului gorges. Basically, it is about the return from Moanei cave, along the Mișid valley, to its place of discharge in Crișul Repede.
Mișidului George is also an integral part of the T7 mountain bike route “Reserved for enthusiasts“.
