Cave description
Osoi Cave, with its large underground spaces beautifully decorated, is a landmark for any passionate caver. But to get there, get ready for a crawl a few tens of meters long in which you will reevaluate the concept of living space.
A strange feeling, almost mystical, some say, is how you feel when you pass through the fields of candle-like stalagmites and when, under the flashlight, they seem to light up one after the other, before your eyes.
Osoi Cave is located in the Defileul Crișului Repede – Pădurea Craiului Natura 2000 Site, on the administrative territory of Vârciorog commune, Bihor county.
Together with the two fossil shelters, the Osoi cave is an occasional shelter for at least 7 species of bats, 6 of them being considered species of community importance.
“A super cave!” I would compare it with the Bears Cave. It has large spaces, it is easy to walk, it has a lot of candle-like stalagmites. Although it is not a cave that puts to work the technical abilities of the cavers, Osoi Cave is a real underground labyrinth and it is good to be careful, not to get lost ”.
