Route description
It is a short and very easy cycling route only good for an afternoon “walk” with family or friends. The route has a slightly more difficult part, a short climb, but instead offers the chance to admire some beautiful landscapes and to discover rare traditional occupations.
The route starts from the center of Remetea village, in the direction of Roșia. At 100 meters after the bridge over the Roșia Valley, turn left, on an asphalt road to Drăgoteni (you also have a road sign on the right). From here we follow the asphalt road which, initially, runs parallel to the mentioned river. Then the route turns sharply to the right and begins to climb slowly. The ascent is short and when we reach the top we can already admire the panorama of Drăgoteni village, located on the hill on the right.
We follow the paved road and go down until we reach a junction where, to the right, we can reach the center of the village. On the left is the road leading to Șoimuș.
In Drăgoteni you can visit a weaving workshop or pay a visit to one of the local artisans who still practices the art of painted eggs (technique, color and patterns are different from those in Bucovina) a traditional activity specific to the area.
To continue our route, at the junction mentioned above we turn left and start to climb steeply among the last houses in the village of Drăgoteni. The upper part of this stage of the route is quite steep, so probably the least trained will feel the need to go off bike. Fortunately, the climb doesn’t take long. After the last houses in the village, the asphalt finishes. Next, from here to the next village we go on a paved road. From the top of the hill we can enjoy a very beautiful viewpoint over the Beiuș area. In the distance we will see the Pădurea Craiului and Codru-Moma Mountains.
We descend to Șoimuș, cross the bridge over the Roșia river and we are on the asphalt again. We follow the road to Petreasa and just before we start to climb we will notice a church and a cobbled road, on the right. We follow this road and reach the wooden church from Petreasa, a historical monument dating from 1752.
We continue the road to Petreasa where we meet the county road that connects with Beiuș. At this intersection we turn left towards Remetea that is only 3 km away.
